Reel Review: School Spirits Heats Things Up in Episode 7
Episode 7 of School Spirits may be the most action-packed of Season 2 we’ve seen yet! With a dangerous teacher on the loose and a half-solved mystery, things manage to escalate for Maddie and her friends in this episode… while also getting steamy?!
Season 2 of School Spirits has been nothing short of dramatic with house fires, kidnapping, and one epic mystery. Now, things are heating up within the relationships of some of our favorite couples. Episode 7 is a turning point specifically for Maddie and Wally; as well as the fate of their relationship.
As the gang uncovers the full chain of events that had led to Janet’s death, they are now able to use the information to get her to cross over (and give Maddie her body back). We also see that because Maddie has befriended these spirits, (especially Wally) leaving them and the world behind will be more difficult than she imagined.
This episode also raises the stakes with the emotional performances of the characters. Milo Manheim adds more depth to Wally than what we have seen before. Because of Maddie, Wally has been able to break down some of his walls, which makes the possibility of a goodbye quite hard specifically for him.
Meanwhile, Janet gives the much needed sit-down talk to all the spirits and finally speaks her truth about Mr. Martin and their plan. After hearing the full story, the puzzle pieces are connected and we find out that Mr. Martin was behind the whole body-swap; with Janet being an innocent and manipulated bystander. Jess Gabor manages to create a really interesting turn-around for her character with her performance this episode.
The living gang finds themselves in the ultimate battle with Mr. Anderson, whose body has been taken over by Mr. Martin, and is still on the loose. The dangerous teacher manages to escape yet again, now making it impossible for Janet to cross-over, meaning Maddie and her friends are at yet another standstill.
In a series of heated and twisted events, Episode 7 finally manages to connect the pieces of Maddie’s mystery that the fans needed! With only a few more loose ends to tie up, we can’t wait to see how School Spirits wraps in the final episode of Season 2 next week!
